As for me, I honestly think most vampire books out there are piss poor with a overused concept. Hell, I came across a series that was almost exactly like the Anita Blake ones. It even had Blah Blah: Vampire Slayer on the binding like the Anita Blake ones do. I was seriously like wtf and threw it across the room after three chapters. As for Anita, no, she needs to end it. Everyone has either become a Mary Sue or a complete emo/whinebag. There is no plot anymore (okay, good plot). It's all smut.

Anne Rice is always classic along with Dracula. If you wanted big, bad vampires, check out Nercoscope. Very detailed like Anne Rice.
As for movies, Vampire Hunter D, Interview With a Vampire (QotD is only good until you read the book), Dracula with Bela Legosi, Underworld. Mr. Vampire is good in the cheesy way. Definitly worth watching though.
